New York Toy Collective Shilo

Furiosa in front  My dildo has a first name, it’s F-U-R-I-O-S-A… It doesn’t really work as well with the song, but it’s time to wax poetic about my New York Toy Collective Shilo dildo (affectionately referred to as Furiosa amongst close friends, partners, and all of my instagram followers).

“What if I got this?” I snapchatted to a friend with the link to A Femme Cock’s Shilo packing video. Something along the lines of “omg. Yes.” was her response. In the spring of 2015, I shyly asked Oh Megan & the Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health if I could try on a harness during their presentation at my college. This was the third year in a row that I attended this panel and apparently I was the first person to ever specifically ask to wear a harness during a presentation. Little did I know that this was the start of me acting on my gender-y wishes. Summer 2015 was my next big step and Furiosa was what I needed.

As far as I know, there are only four types of pack and plays: Tantus (No.1 and No. 2), Hugo and Tomas, Peecock, and New York Toy Collective. Peecock and Hugo & Tomas are 3-in-1’s,1Pack, Play, and Stand to Pee Tantus’ designs don’t feature a rod inside, and NYTC is the only one that makes toys in colorful, non-skin tones. Not all companies stock NYTC’s funky colors (pink, black and blue, pink and purple, pink and blue, and pink and green), but luckily I was able to get one in black and blue from Early to Bed.

HOW THIS TOY WORKS
All of NYTC’s toys are silicone poured by hand in New York with a metal rod inside. Shilo is semi-realistic but with somewhat exaggerated features, especially the very prominent head. This toy has a really nice squish to it; I would guess it’s a soft shore silicone.2It feels the same amount squishy as my soft-shore Elephant trunk dil from Exotic Erotics. Shilo is squishier than your average Fun Factory or Tantus toy, but the metal rod inside gives Shilo a more ‘dual density’ feel. This metal wire is bendable, so Shilo can be made to stand however the user(s) see fit. This rod is really what makes Shilo a pack and play: though (unlike Tantus) it can’t be folded completely in half. When bent, Shilo will stay in place. It’s also long enough to tuck the head under a harness in a barely-noticeable pack.

Furiosa SideShilo is 6.25” insertable, with the widest part of the head at 1.75” in diameter and the shaft at 1.5”. The base of this toy is wide enough to make it anally safe and harness compatible.3Which. Duh. A harness non-compatible pack and play would kind of suck and more than likely be very difficult to use. It has “NEW YORK TOY COLLECTIVE” written in indented letters along the side as well as the company logo (a pair of briefs). Because the letters are on the base, there isn’t much worry about them getting bodily gunk caught in them.

HOW I USE THIS TOY
I didn’t buy this toy to use it internally, so I don’t have a lot to say about that. I did (in part) buy this toy for gender reasons since I had a gender-binary obsessed speech teacher who referred to everyone as “ladies and gentlemen,”4And also who forbade doodling in class, but that is another story. a best friend who doesn’t fit into either of those categories, and questions about my own gender and its presentation. Part of me bought Shilo so I could try being a dude and walking around with a dick in my pants. I bought boy clothes at the thrift store, a binder, and Shilo, and I gave a speech to my teacher and class all about how gender is fake. Nothing vastly changed, and I sheepishly scuttled back to presenting as femme pretty much ever since.

But I do still love wearing cocks in general and this cock in particular makes an excellent fashion statement. Or not! Shilo can be tucked in such a way that no one but you knows you’re wearing it. I love that, because if I need the boost of confidence that comes with wearing a cock, Shilo is there secretly supporting me.5And I may or may not have fantasized about wearing Shilo hidden under clothes as a surprise boner for a partner putting their hands into my pants…. This is a cock that my coworkers and I all wanted to fondle and give hand-jobs to when I started training at the Pleasure Chest. When I’m wearing Shilo, it’s hard to keep my hands out of my pants.

One of the really special things about this dick is that I can fuck or jerk off with it and come as though I have a god-given cock. Maybe it’s the larger base on the toy that stimulates my clit & labia really nicely, maybe it’s wanking the exaggerated features of this cock that makes it easy to imagine it’s attached to my body. Whatever it is, when I’m feeling hard-core gender dysphoria, Shilo is there for me. My favorite way to jerk off with Shilo is to nestle the We-Vibe Tango between my labia and against my clit and have the base of Shilo hold that in place while I jerk it. Unf.

All of that said, I have used Shilo internally. The squish of the silicone is really nice to clench PC muscles around and the metal rod means you can position this dil to hit you where you want it to. The rod in Shilo makes it hard but still flexible. If you need an unforgiving g(or otherwise) zone hitter, or if you need intense, hard pressure, Shilo might be too flexible & forgiving for you. Anally, I’m not a huge fan purely because getting past the huge ridge of the head on the way out is less than the most comfortable.

Get Shilo for $149 in skin tones and black & blue from Early to Bed, $149 in all colors directly from New York Toy Collective, or $139 from SheVibe in skin tones, blue & yellow, pink & blue, or pink. If you want a subtle pack and play with non-skin tones, it’s really the only choice. If you like Shilo but want something longer or girthier, NYTC has you covered with Mason and Carter (respectively). If Shilo is above your budget, both of Tantus’ Pack ‘n Plays are less than $100 though be prepared to bulge without very specific pants. If you want something that feels more like a part of your body or functions more like a god-given cock, look into Hugo/Tomas and Peecock’s offerings (linked above).

LUBE AND CLEANING
The NYTC Shilo is made completely of silicone and has no electrical components, so it can be washed with soap and water, dipped in a 10% bleach solution and then rinsed, or boiled for 3-5 minutes.

This toy is made of silicone which can bond with silicone based lube. I recommend using a water based lube so you don’t run the risk of ruining your toy.
