Le Wand has not seen waves of popularity among sex bloggers, so my interest in it was hesitant at best. However, my recent move into my own space with super sex positive housemates brought the Magic Wand Rechargeable into my life as such a staple that I jokingly started referring to it as my “primary partner.” I wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to try Le Wand, which retails about $50 above the MWR. Despite other reviewers’ vitriol, I wanted to give it a chance, and Alicia Sinclair was kind enough to give me that opportunity at the end of the Sex Expo.
HOW THIS TOY WORKS
Le Wand looks very similar to the Magic Wand Rechargeable, but, you know, more #aesthetic. It comes in Grey and Pearl White,1These colors remind me of iPhones. but other than that there aren’t many visual differences. It is supposedly an inch longer (13”) and the same width as its more renowned rival. The buttons on Le Wand are in the exact same place as on the MWR (though instead of power-strength-pattern, they go on/strength up-pattern-strength down/off). Le Wand’s head is made of silicone, while it features an ABS plastic body. It has the same metal necklace and the very bottom of the toy has an outward swoop. It is intended to be a competitor for the MWR as well as other wand style vibes.
I haven’t tested whether Le Wand can be used with a cord but a 3 hour charge on Le Wand lasted me 2 weeks of masturbation. It can be travel locked by holding down the + and – buttons for three seconds, and comes with a travel case, as well as a TPE2TPE is a porous material “multi-use disposable textured cover.”
HOW I USE THIS TOY
I feel like Le Wand has lived several lives. Early reviews call it buzzy, bemoaning the lack of travel lock. My clit doesn’t love buzzy toys and I don’t care about travel locks. The only time a toy accidentally turned on was during a move and my helpful friends found it hilarious. Since the iteration I received at the Sex Expo does claim a travel lock, along with a cute carrying case, it can’t be the same version that the early toy reviewers started with.
The rep3Not Alicia Sinclair, but I didn’t catch their name. said that Le Wand starts out with a power level lower than the MWR and gets steadily more powerful. I disagree.
From my experiences, Le Wand definitely starts at the MWR’s 2 or 3 setting, which is actually perfect for me since that’s usually where I start my MWR. But Le Wand is a different kind of power… A buzzy rumble, if you will. Holding it in my hands at the Sex Expo, it felt like it was biting my hand and… I kinda liked it. Maybe it’s my internal masochism speaking, but this toy being a kind of painful to use is great. Here’s a toy that can dom me, and I don’t even need to give it a safeword!
For about 3 weeks, Le Wand was my go to toy. I used it exactly the same way I use the MWR; I could get off on the first or second power level and I loved the bendy neck. But somewhere along the way of jerking off 2+ times a day with it, I began to feel desensitized. I would bring the toy up to higher & higher speeds… and just get bored. When I tried to use it the other day, it wasn’t appealing. I didn’t want Le Wand so I switched over to the MWR which still feels less powerful to me, but the MWR’s rumbly aspect and ability to pinpoint4The MWR’s head has a slight corner to it, vs Le Wand’s completely rounded head. felt so much better. Other times, I’d start out with the MWR and end with Le Wand getting me off. Maybe it’s the different kinds of vibration. Maybe it’s the relief of having a back up wand when one inevitably dies (though even after 2 weeks of almost daily use, Le Wand still didn’t need a charge which shocked me). I’m not entirely sure why the shift happens for me but Le Wand isn’t a bad toy. It just ain’t the Magic Wand Rechargeable.
I didn’t even bother to try out the patterns. I rarely use patterns on toys, choosing instead to swivel my hips around if I want different stimuli. Le Wand also comes with a TPE wand cap (think Tenga egg, inside out, but more solid) but I never used that either. When I use Le Wand, it’s often through pajama pants and not actually up against my genitals, so changing the texture would make no difference whatsoever.
Is it worth more than the Magic Wand Rechargeable? I don’t think so but, if you value the increased price for inclusion of a travel lock, attachment, and carrying case, go for it. You can purchase Le Wand from SheVibe, Peepshow Toys, or Luvoqa for $170.
LUBE & CLEANING
The head of Le Wand (the part designed to come in contact with genitals) is covered completely in silicone, which can bond with silicone based lube. I recommend a water based lube (like Sliquid) so you don’t run the risk of ruining your toy.
Le Wand is NOT splashproof, waterproof, or able to be submerged in any liquid. The head can be cleaned with a damp washcloth, or your own 10% bleach solution that is then thoroughly wiped off.
- Powerful in its way
- Carrying case
- Travel lock
- High price point
- Not substantially different from the MWR
